free riceInflation rate is at its highest and it is  set to increase even more .ITs the same problem in almost all the developing countries. Rich are getting richer and poor are getting even poorer…With the prices of essential commodities like rice increasing at a fast pace the poor and the needy  are unable to even get one day meal.

Well,i came across a site a couple of months back ,infact may be even more than that through one of my freinds so thought of just sharing it with through my first post. This site helps to fight hunger through out the world through UN world food program .

FreeRice has two goals:

1)Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.

2)Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free

The sponsors who advertise on the site are responsible for the money required to buy the rice.

All you need to do is to play the word game which basically checks the vocabulary of the user. For each  word that u get right they donate 20 grains of rice. Now that may seem less to u but when the number of people who use this site increase ,the no. of grains also increase. Over 35 billion grains donated till date .

I suppose most of us here would be vocab freaks so dont wait just Check out the site play for sometime and be a part of  this noble cause. I know u would like it .

ONE more request for all the readers who are bloggers ,i would be glad if u people  can just add the banner of this site to your sidebar .Every single visitor to the site counts.

You can get the banners from here.  ..Thanks

    @ priya
normally people dont scan everything on a blog…
i have hell lot of things in my blog sidebar…but hardly anyone notices it and clicks it/….
so its best to keep in the top so that it automatically catches the attention…

My name is Dorian and I’m reaching out to popular blogs. I’m working with a small startup called Avanoo that wants to give bloggers the opportunity to raise awareness and funding for causes that they care about by putting a badge on their blogs that looks like the one below.

We haven’t launched yet, but we’re reaching out to a few top bloggers, now, to help us test our technology and spread the word. If you can help us to show others how, together, bloggers and web users can raise funds and awareness for good causes by using the power of our voices, I’d be so grateful.

    Thanks for your time,
